Economics is a strange word

What is “economics” anyway?

Economics answers questions. As the American Economics Association explains: “Economics can be defined in a few different ways. It’s the study of scarcity, the study of how people use resources and respond to incentives, or the study of decision-making. It often involves topics like wealth and finance, but it’s not all about money.”

At Hopewell Economics, we focus on healthcare policy decisions. Our work helps medical device companies, clinicians, researchers, policymakers and regulators make informed choices about treatments and understand the cost of healthcare.

Today’s emphasis on controlling healthcare costs comes with both risks and rewards. What appears to be the least expensive often proves to  to be significantly more expensive.

Further, if investors fail to see economic benefits of a brilliant new idea, finding funding may prove futile.

We have conducted projects for both large and small medical device companies, third-party payers, hospitals and surgery centers, pharmaceutical firms, as well as various state and federal agencies. Projects have ranged from simple quick overviews to extensive in-depth analytics.

We have presented to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on behalf of clients and assisted more than a dozen state workers’ compensation boards with enacting hospital fee schedules.

We welcome inquiries how we can provide the economics research that helps bring your project to successful fruition.
